DESIGN AND IMPLEMENTATION OF AN OFFLINE COMPUTERIZED MARKING SYSTEM ABSTRACT BY AYUBA JAWAHIR SULAIMAN

Computers are known for their wide range of uses especially in scientific and mathematical fields. However little or no thought has been given to designing a complete and thorough intelligence entrance examination on a computer system in our immediate environment. This offline computerized marking system is designed to assist school administration’s examinations in attaining a standardized sample, and as such the psychological implication of the design is very important.
The Offline Computerized Marking System(CBE) is a Standalone application designed by the integration of Microsoft Visual Studio and Microsoft SQL Server to help provide a platform whereby computer-based Examinations can be organized and performed. The use of Information and Communication Technology in administering examinations can improve efficiency and reduce the delay in the notification of a student’s score after examination.
The design of the system is quite simple and easily understood. Its flexibility makes it amenable for future changes and amendment to either incorporate other aspects of intelligence or to be designed for any other school age or class.
The questions of the offline computerized marking system are programmed and visually displayed on the system’s screen in an interactive form. The student answers the questions on the computer system, immediately the questions are marked and notified. The result of the examination is also displayed at the end of the examination which goes a long way to lessen the fears of students. Since the test is examined by the computer, time cost of manual test or examination is saved and examination malpractice is on another level eliminated.
